Awareness: |
to have knowledge of,
to be cognizant, to be informed. |
|
Krewe: |
an organization that
participates in a parade or ball for the Carnival season. Some
Krewes also participate in or sponsor other events in an effort to
support charities and needed causes. |
The Krewe du YaYas is an
organization of women that volunteer their time and efforts to help make a
difference in the crusade against breast cancer. Our mission
is to assist the Pensacola area hospitals and Health Department in
providing early detection mammograms to socioeconomically challenged
individuals that may otherwise not receive this so very important
diagnostic tool.

Through our many appearances
and support of local festivities, Breast Cancer Awareness month activities
and Krewe sponsored fund raising events we have become one of the top
fundraising nonprofit organizations in this area.

The frilly and somewhat whimsical costumes of a “YaYa” with the pink hair
bring delight and cheer to both the young and old!

The color pink has been chosen as a symbol to honor all mothers, sisters,
aunts, friends and strangers; as well as those men that have been touched
sometime in their life by this dreaded disease.

The tiaras are a symbol to all women saying yes, you can be Princesses and
Queens in your daily lives!

The boas are a symbol to show our spirit of the Carnival and our desire
to follow our motto of
Living, Laughing,
and Loving.
